Since, 1988, Hospice Dufferin has been providing compassion, care, and support to those in our community who are experiencing the challenges of a life-limiting illness, who are bereaved, or who are caregivers to those they love. Our vision is to provide peace, comfort, and dignity for all people in our community.
We believe our clients are the reason for our existence.
We believe in the right to live in dignity.
We believe in supporting the grief journey.
We believe the compassion, care, and commitment of our volunteers and staff are the heart of hospice.
We believe an educated community will provide the best quality of life for those with a life-limiting illness.
We offer programs from diagnosis to end-of-life for clients.
We offer support programs for caregivers from illness to bereavement.
We are here to make sure that those living with a life-limiting illness, experiencing grief, and those that are caregivers receive the vital care and support they need. We help provide individuals with dignity, personal choice, and quality of life, helping clients and their families to make the most of their precious time together. Our services address the domains of care developed by the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association.
Here is a snapshot of our impact on the community.
In 2022, we supported 305 clients in Dufferin County.
We provided over 3279 sessions of service.
The delivery of our programs and services is made possible through the support of a small dedicated staff, volunteers, and generous donors.
The government provides approximately 60% of our funding. The rest of our fundraising initiatives come from the support of our community.
Your support helps to maintain our Wellness Programs which, provide positivity for both our clients and their family. These programs include music therapy, art therapy, exercise, journaling, and meditation. Wellness programs invite people living with a life-limiting illness, or the bereaved to gather to support one another, learn strategies to help deal with various practical and emotional challenges, and discuss how to live well every day.
